 mascara

#1. Monday, May 25, 2015

Sit down Amazing Race, New Orleans owns the truly wackiest street race you will ever see. The 16th Annual Mascara Race starts at 1 p.m. at Clover Grill and speeds through the French Quarter with pit stops at Café Lafitte in Exile, Rawhide, Good Friends, Bourbon Pub and Oz. The premise is simple, there are teams who literally put a drag queen together adding parts of her outfit and makeup at each stop till she is a full fledge “girl” by the end of the race. Prixes are awarded and it is a lot of fun, so make it a new Memorial Day tradition. Also all proceeds for the race benefit for New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) Foundation.

BINGO_2

#2. Thursday, May 28, 2015

Bingo is no longer a drag, well kinds, sorta. Every Thursday night at the Allways Lounge located at 2240 St. Claude Avenue, join the madness of their version of Real Bingo hosted by drag extraordinaire Vinsantos. There is bingo, fabulous prizes and drag performances by Vinsantos and her co-host which changes weekly. It is easy to play, you buy a drink, you get a card, buy two you get another card and so forth. Come out for all the hysterical craziness, and be warned this is not your grandma’s bingo!

It’s time bitches for the wildest gay holiday celebrated in New Orleans, Southern Decadence. Congratulations go out to the five (yes folks five) Grand Marshals. I personally think the more the merrier; this means more fun events, fundraisers and parties. This year’s Grand Marshals at Rip and Marsha (of Ambush fame and Susan Luccis no more), Steven Mora, Misti Ates (aka Johnny Passion) and Frankie Fierce. At the press party, the Southern Decadence Grand Marshall’s will be presenting their theme, colors, song and poster. The event takes place at GrandPre’s located at 834 North Rampart Street from 7-9 p.m.

Nothing is more enjoyable in the Crescent City than a sunset garden party in a gorgeous mansion in the French Quarter. And now you can enjoy one and be a part of helping a worthwhile cause at the Beauregard-Keyes House Spring Gala benefiting this historic home and garden. Enjoy music by the incredible Deacon John and the Ivories, and a fabulous silent auction, while sampling food and drinks from a variety of delicious New Orleans eateries. The house is located at 1113 Chartres Street directly across from the Ursuline Convent. Tickets prices range from $50 – $75. For tickets and more information, go to www.bkhouse.org.
