Culinary Charm on the Circle

Lee Circle now boasts an incredible culinary dining with Tivoli & Lee.  Located in the Hotel Modern at 2 Lee Circle, this restaurant gives their Southern influenced menu a modern outlook.

With a spectacular view of the city’s most famous roundabout and the lumbering streetcars, this is a perfect New Orleans culinary experience that will delight both locals and visitors alike.

Tivoli & Lee takes its namesake from two iconic monuments from the circle.  The first was a spinning carousel at what was once then called Tivoli Circle and the second is the Southern war hero that now stands in its place.  The eatery is bright, open and airy featuring large picture windows.  Chef Marcu’s Woodham creates a neighborhood-focused farm-to-table menu that supports local farms.

Their menu is an inspired take on Southern cuisine with many delicious favorites.  Their Tater Tots of the Day (ham and cheese on my visit) and duck cracklins is comfort food at its unique best.  The Pimento Cheese appetizer is just crazy good.  Other noteworthy small plates are the gnocchi that features Louisiana Blue Crabmeat and wild mushrooms and the duck confit ravioli.

For dinner, sure bets are the Sweet Tea Glazed Yard Bird served with dirty speatzle and crispy greens and the Pork Confit with sweet potato gravy and finished off with herbed marshmallows.  My favorite choice is the Short Ribs that has been braised in Abita Beer and served with a blue cheese and horseradish mousse.  The dish was tender and scrumptious with all the spices working together to form this amazing dish.

But it is not just the cuisine that brings in the guests; their talented staff of mixologists has produced an impressive craft cocktail menu. The Earl Grey Gardens won my heart with its meshing of honeysuckle vodka, earl grey syrup, lemon, soda and thyme.  The entire meal was memorable from the top service (both at the bar and the table) to the atmosphere and cuisine.

Tivoli & Lee is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  For more information, go to www.tiviloandlee.com.
